  •  Dovetail Joint: A joint in which one part is tapered into the shape of a 'doves tail', and fits in a socket shaped to correspond. Find dovetail cutters here.
  •  Dovetail Saw: Dovetail saws generally have thin blades with a high number of teeth per inch. Primarily used for work that require small, very precise cuts, typically in joint making including dovetail and small tenon joints. Find dovetail saws here.
  •  Dowel: A headless pin of wood used, with adhesive, to hold a joint together. Find wooden dowels here.

  •  Dowel Drill: An accurately sized drill bit for drilling holes to receive dowels. Used with drilling machines or routers. Can also be used for cutting holes to receive plugs. Can also be called 'lip and spur' bits.

  •  Drywall: Also known as Plasterboard. It is made of gypsum (a soft sulfate mineral) that has been mixed with water and spread between two large sheets of paper. It is commonly used for the construction of interior walls and ceilings. Common UK brands include Siniat and Gyproc.
